Once again Midlands Riding Clubs performed very well at all the National Championships in 2008. Specuial mention must be made of Beatrice Payne, a Junior member of Atherstone Riding Club, who became National Champion in five different dressage competitions at Lincoln and Addington.
In 2009 BRC will be introducing some new competitions.
FESTIVAL OF THE HUNTER CHAMPIONSHIPS – MAY 2009
Festival of the Hunter Challenge
The Cross Country competition will be re-named the Festival of the Hunter Challenge (FOTH Challenge) and will be a test of the ability of a pony/horse and rider to negotiate a show jumping course of 7 – 10 obstacles together with piece of hunting country (consisting of 8 – 15 cross country jumping efforts) well, at a fair hunting pace.
BRC will run six Challenge competitions for both Junior and Senior riders:
• Junior Novice for teams of four riders, (the best three scores to count) and individuals
• Junior Open for teams of four riders, (the best three scores to count) and individuals
• Junior Pairs
• Senior Novice for teams of four riders, (the best three scores to count) and individuals
• Senior Open for teams of four riders, (the best three scores to count) and individuals
• Senior Pairs
Riders will have to qualify for the Championships at Aston le Walls in May at Area Qualifier competitions.
Festival of the Hunter Combined Competition
BRC have introduced two Festival of the Hunter Combined Competitions, one for Junior riders and one for Senior riders. The competition consists of two phases, Riding Test and Style Jumping and they must be taken in that order. The same horse and rider must complete both phase.
Riders can apply for direct entry to the championships.
ROYAL WINDSOR HORSE SHOW – MAY 2009
In 2008 BRC were asked to put on some displays at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, the organisers were very impressed with the standard of riding etc that for 2009 thay have asked us to run some competitions for gr5ass roots riders. The competitions, for both junior and senior members, will be:
• Novice Show Jumping
• Intermediate Show Jumping
• Riding Test
The show jumping competitions to be Top Score competitions.
There will a series of four rounds for all the competitions:
• Round 1: to be run by affiliated clubs, the winners to go forward to Round 2
• Round 2: to be run by BRC Areas, the winners to be invited to attend the Championships
• Rounds 3 & 4: to be run at at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in May
HORSE TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – AUGUST 2009
A new competition has been introduced for 2009, a Junior Open ay Event to complement the existing Junior Novice One Day Event, both to be run on the opening day of the Championships at Offchurch Bury in August. |
