Treasurer Worcestershire Committee
I have been a member of the committee for a few years now and have recently taken on the role of treasurer, having previously just helped out whenever needed.
I was a pony mad child who grew up in Birmingham. It wasn‟t until I was in my 20s and living in Leicestershire that I finally had my own pony. He was a dark bay 14hh „native‟ sort, of great character. It was love at first sight! We had years of great fun together. I joined a couple of riding clubs and enjoyed taking part in many riding club activities. I made some good friends and we spent our time hacking around the beautiful countryside and occasionally taking part in show jumping and cross country competitions (all very low-key).
I moved back west to Worcestershire….
My daughter Ellie started riding when she was seven and for quite a few years I was the groom and took her to training and competitions. She has now reached the age where „A‟ levels, work and a hectic social life have taken priority so I am becoming more involved in the riding of her horse (I should say „our‟ horse) rather than just borrowing him occasionally.
Scrumpy has been with us for 4 years, he‟s a Connemara cross, dapple grey and very handsome. I enjoy taking part in training with the Worcestershire BHS and with Bromsgrove & District RC. Last year we went to the Adult Camp at Lincomb in May – going again this year!! Scrumpy has also taken me round the cross country course at Bissell Wood a few times, which I find very exciting!! I have yet to do any competing in dressage or showjumping but am planning to remedy that this year.
