SOUTH WORCS COMMUNITY MESSAGING - SouthWorcester - NW 28.5.10 (4)]

Please note the following disturbing incident, which I am circulating to Neighbourhood Watch in the area relating to the following incident, plus also to Rural Watch members across the wider area.
On the evening of 26th May (approx 2100hrs) two Staffordshire Bull Terriers would appear to have been taken from a location in Lincomb, near to Crossway Green / Stourport.
The owners were tending to their horses and the Staffordshire Bull Terriers were roaming freely at the time. A pick up truck with a yellow front and a blue flatbed was seen in the area. Shortly afterwards the dogs disappeared, believed to have been taken by those in the pick up truck. Later that evening the dogs re-appeared, found tied to the front of the owners car.
So, a happy ending, but a disturbing incident none-the-less. To those of you with dogs, especially pedigree / working dogs, please be mindful of the above and take all reasonable precautions to secure your dogs when not with them.
To those of you in the area please make your members aware and report any information to the police call centre, via the switchboard, on 0300 333 3000, quoting incident ref 794-S-260510.

.................HW N&S Shetland Pony stolen and dumped in Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Our colleagues in West Yorkshire have made us aware of the following
incident:

A Shetland Pony was stolen from a field in the Stanley area of Wakefield during the night on Tuesday 27th April.
The fencing had been broken down to get to the pony.  Nothing else was taken.  All other horses were stabled over night.
Earlier today the Police found the Shetland Pony dumped at the road side.
Thankfully she is ok - all fit and healthy.
It is suspected that whoever had stolen the pony has dumped her when they realised that she was freeze marked.
Last year a noticeable amount of Shetland ponies went missing - not all of them were reported to the police but the ones we know about were found - one in Manchester, others found nearer to home. Some turned up on farmers land, with no marking and were kept by the person who found them.We need to keep tabs on this in West Yorkshire.
Also - If any other police forces have noticed an increase in thefts of Shetland ponies, please can you let me know?
PLEASE encourage members & none members to report stolen animals to the police so we can monitor any thefts.
PLEASE encourage horse owners to security mark their animals and tack.

Incident number to follow, Stottesdon, near Kidderminster, > Worcestershire

Not much useful information,I'm afraid - older style white transit van came down our drive with its lights OFF at 5 am.  Fortunately I'd JUST got up to check a foaling mare and let the dogs (3 noisy ones!)out.  They hurtled down to yard and van made a VERY fast exit - I doubt they had time to get out - so nothing stolen.  Police were alerted and came out from Bridgnorth within 30 minutes (very good response!)  Police in Kidderminster and Ludlow also alerted to be on the lookout for van.
