The National Spring Convention organised by the Training Team

TRAINING TOWARDS THE FBHS

• These days are aimed at coaches who may have the Fellowship as a long term goal.
•  Commitment to eventually taking the Fellowship is not critical to attending. 
• Delegates must hold the BHSI, but not necessarily fulfil the criteria for entry into the Fellowship, according to the syllabus.
• The days are aimed at helping coaches to work towards achieving the entry criteria, and to further develop skills and knowledge beyond the BHSI.

Important Information
Equine Specific First Aid Courses and acceptable certificates

From January 2012 we have changed our provider for the ESFA Courses from Pro Medical to SkillBase.  Any certificates issued to end December 2011 from Pro Medical will be valid until their expiry date but for courses attended from January 2012 the only certificates that are acceptable for the BHS Register of Instructors, BHS Exams, BHS Approved Centre staff and UK Coaching Certificates obtained through the BHS are:

- The full HSE authorised First Aid at Work course – this is an initial 3 day course with a 2 day refresher needed every 3 years

- The BHS First Aid course provided by the BHS Training Department using our approved company SkillBase – this is an initial 2 day course with a 1 day refresher needed every 2 years.

We do not accept any other type of first aid certificates (certificates issued internationally from other countries are individually checked).  There are courses provided by other companies and they may say that their course certificate should be acceptable to us.  If you are in any doubt about the validity of a course please check with the Training Department before making your booking.

HORSE OWNERS CERTIFICATE COURSES LEVELS 1 & 2
starting in January 2012

at a hotel location in Kidderminster, early week evening (will sort which suits people best) between 7-9pm. Each level lasts approximately 6 weeks (including one week for the optional exam) - we work as fast or as slow as the needs of the group dictate. Suitable for new owners, those thinking about buying a horse/pony or parents of horse mad children. Minimum age 12 years please.
COST £85 per course plus additional £15 which is fee payable to BHS HQ for moderation of the exam paper and issuing of award certificate. BOOK BOTH COURSES for £120 plus additional £30 for 2 exam papers to be checked etc. at BHS HQ. £30 deposit will be required and balance can be paid in instalments. Need a minimum of 8 people to be able to run the courses so please contact Lisa to register your interest.
